Is your child really road smart?

Around 5,000 children under the age of 16 die or are seriously injured on Britain’s roads each year. The highest rate of child fatality occurs among pedestrians and car occupants, followed by cyclists.

“I still remember watching from afar how my son was unable to break on his bike as he headed towards an oncoming car. My heart stopped and I knew that there was nothing I could do at that point. If it had not been for the driver of the car, who swerved to the other side, he would not be here today. Many times, I look back and wish I had taken more time to explain the dangers on the road to him.”, Elisabeth shares.

As a family business dedicated to supporting teachers and parents in their efforts to encourage children on their pathway to growth, Brainwaves has developed a series of clear, colourful and engaging road safety rewards and posters for children.

Road Safety Posters

Parents have a great opportunity to teach their children.

Being a good example by using the correct pedestrian crossings, wearing a bike helmet and taking time to explain each step in the process of crossing a road can make all the difference. We easily forget that children do not see the world the way we do. They do not have the same ability to measure distances, judge danger or focus in a busy environment.

Our posters have been designed to help children remember simple, yet vital, principles of road safety. Using these regularly will help cement the importance of being truly road smart at a young age. This, in return, can then help prevent the spike in road accidents among the 11-12 year olds who, due to a new-found sense of freedom and increased use of technology while out on our streets, can easily lose sight of safety.
